About

About Us:

Art on the Zoo Fence is a non-profit group of local artists that was established in 1953. The City & County of Honolulu recognizes Art on the Zoo Fence as an Art Mart, meaning they only sell and display two-dimensional (2D) artwork work that is primarily paintings in oils, acrylics or watercolor, and photography. Artists often sell original paintings and prints.

Each weekend, the Zoo Fence Artists set up along the fence of the Honolulu Zoo, hence the name, Art on the Zoo Fence.   They are located on Monsarrat Avenue, across from the bandstand at Kapiolani Park. The group makes an annual donation of art suppplies to various people or organizations to promote arts education for children.

The hallmark of this organization is that the artists display and sell their own works, unlike a gallery where a salesperson sells the works and  collects a large percentage of the sale. We have had many artists display their art with us in the past that have become well known throughout Hawaii.

Are you interested in joining the Zoo Fence Artists?  We have both regular and standby artists and welcome artist participation. For further information please read the organization RULES and use the CONTACT FORM.
